Skeet Shooters and Tim Skeebows first to join the 900 Club! (Raleigh Skeeball Skeeson II)

Vol II Issue 13 copy

Every once in a while, a match comes along that can only be described as epic.  Those fortunate enough to be involved in the match will live to tell their kids and grandkids about it. And those lucky enough to have caught the action from the sidelines will be able to tell their co-workers, neighbors, and bar buddies that they “sat front row for that game!”

Well, this past Thursday night at the Bassment gave us exactly that — an epic match.  One that I would have gladly paid to watch.  It was the then #2 Skeet Shooters vs the defending champs, the #3 The Tim Skeebows at 10:00 on Lane 1.

The match began right out of the gates with Shanna O’Donnell (Tim Skeebows) rolling the first Full 40 of her career.  High Fives were exchanged and everyone knew this game was going to go the distance.  The game see-sawed back and forth pretty much the entire way.  Ray (Skeet Shooters) hit a Full 4o in the second frame to match Shanna’s.  Then Shanna hit another one, which sent the crowd over the edge.  Not to be outdone, Ray also hit his second Full 40 of the night.

Heart rates were pounding and scores were being calculated, checked, and re-checked.  The teams were never separated by more than 8 points that entire match.  Back and forth and forth and back.  After 9 frames, the Skeet Shooters were ahead 810 – 806.  Shanna went first for the Skeebows and rolled an impressive 310.  Ray was up next for the Shooters and rolled a 340.  Advantage Shooters.  Danielle (Tim Skeebows) rolled next and hit a 320.  Alexis (Skeet Shooters) attempted to answer back, but came up just a bit short with a 280.  It was now a 3 point lead for The Skeet Shooters with each team having one roller left.

CT was up first for the Skeebows.  He knew he would need at least a 320 to put the pressure on Duke.

CT hit two much-needed hundos on the way to a 340 — putting massive amounts of pressure on Duke.

Duke (Skeet Shooters) was the last roller of the match and needed a 310 to tie and a 320 to win.

(Two things about this video before you press play.  1 — If you’re at work or have young kids around, turn the volume down at the beginning as El Duke drops an F bomb before rolling.  2 — Duke owes me $20 for not rolling a 360. Pay up biatch!)

..And he rolls an impressive 340 to clinch the victory for The Skeet Shooters! 906 – 903

Also, both teams broke 900, making them the first teams in Raleigh to join the 900 club!

A great great match for everyone involved — the players, the spectators, the bartenders (they got to partake in some celebratory shots after the match), everyone!  And it might very well be a sneak peak into the Championship match on Super Saturday.  Assuming Margaskeeta Man chokes in the first round like last skeeson, and assuming seeds 4 – 12 don’t cause any big waves, we may very well see Skeet Shooters vs. The Tim Skeebows Part II on Super Saturday — 6/13/09!

Stay Tuned!!!
